What is Royal jelly?

Royal jelly is a honey bee secretion that is used in the nutrition of larvae, as well as adult queens. It is secreted from the hypopharyngeal glands in the heads of worker bees, and fed to all larvae in the colony. When worker bees decide to make a new queen, either because the old one is weakening, or was killed, they choose several small larvae and feed them with copious amounts of royal jelly in specially constructed queen cells. This type of feeding triggers the development of queen morphology, including the fully developed ovaries needed to lay eggs.

What is 10-HDA?

10-HDA (discovered in 1959) is only found in Fresh Royal Jelly and can not be made artificially. It which has many uses and is renowned for being the most important chemical in Fresh Royal Jelly, is responsible for many of the health benefits of Royal jelly. Research shows that 10-HDA and Royalactin (both only found in Fresh Royal Jelly) destroys positive gram bacteria like Streptococcus and Staphylococcus which can cause illnesses like throat infections, skin conditions, bronchitits etc. It is the amount of 10-HDA content within Fresh Royal Jelly that dictates the price on the international market - the higher the content, the higher the price thus the faster the heath benefits are achieved.
